How to Interpret

Point of Control (POC)

The POC is the price where the most trading occurred.

POC LocationMeaning
Price above POCBullish — POC becomes support
Price below POCBearish — POC becomes resistance
Multiple POCsSeveral key levels

Value Area

The range containing 70% of volume (typically the mean ± 1 standard deviation).

Price vs Value AreaMeaning
Above VAHExtended — may pull back
Below VALExtended — may bounce
Within VAFair value — chop

High Volume Nodes

Areas where significant trading occurred. Price tends to respect these levels.

Low Volume Nodes

Areas with minimal trading (gaps). Price moves quickly through these levels.

Trading Strategies

Bottom Line

Volume profile reveals where market participants are most active. The POC and value area are powerful support and resistance levels. Use them to identify high-probability entry zones, avoid trading in low-volume gaps, and confirm breakouts with above-average volume at the VAH or VAL break.
