Crypto Investment Group Scams on Telegram and Discord

July 11, 2026 3 min read

Crypto investment groups on Telegram and Discord promise exclusive signals, guaranteed returns, and life-changing profits. They’re almost always scams.

How They Operate

StageWhat Happens
1You’re added to a Telegram group or find it through an ad
2Admins post “winning trades” with screenshots of profits
3Members post excited comments about how much they’re making
4VIP group is offered for a fee (0.1-1 BTC)
5You pay and receive “signals” that lose money
6Scammer disappears with your fee

The Fake Members

Most “members” in these groups are bots or sock puppet accounts:

Fake Member BehaviourReal Member Behaviour
”Another 100% win! Thank you admin!”Critical analysis
”Best group ever, made 5 ETH this week!”Varied results
Never questions the adminAsks for reasoning
Posts payment proof immediatelyMay share cautiously
Only positive commentsMixed experiences

Red Flags

Red FlagWhy
Guaranteed returnsNo one can guarantee returns
Screenshots of huge profitsEasily faked
Pressure to join VIPUrgency is a scam tactic
Limited spotsArtificial scarcity
Anonymous teamNo real identities
No verified track recordCan’t verify past performance
Referral bonusesPonzi structure

The “VIP” Group Structure

TierCostWhat You Get
FreeFreeDelayed signals, general chat
Silver0.05 BTC”Daily signals”
Gold0.1 BTC”Premium signals + analysis”
Platinum0.5 BTC”Private calls + 1-on-1 coaching”

The only difference between tiers is the price. None of them make money.

The P&D Connection

Many of these groups are pump-and-dump schemes:

  1. Admin buys a low-cap coin
  2. Tells the group to buy (pump)
  3. Price rises from group buying
  4. Admin sells their position (dump)
  5. Members are left holding worthless coins

Legitimate Groups vs Scams

How to Check a Group

CheckWhat to Do
Search for scam reportsGoogle “[group name] + scam”
Check admin historyAre they known in the community?
Verify screenshotsAsk for live proof, not images
Test with small amountSee if signals actually work
Check exit strategyCan you leave easily?

Bottom Line

Almost every crypto investment group on Telegram or Discord that charges for signals is a scam. Legitimate traders don’t sell access to “guaranteed” profits. If the group promises life-changing returns for a fee, it’s taking your money, not making you money.
